At Southside our Sunday celebrations can be a little daunting. How do you begin to get connected? How can you keep from feeling lost in the crowd? No matter how challenging and inspiring you find our worship and preaching, you can still feel unsatisfied and somewhat left out if you don’t build personal relationships.
This is where Fellowship Groups come in.
It is within these regular, week-night small groups that we experience the deep community where people are cared for, and practice the teachings regarding gospel living and community building. Group members learn how to support and uphold each other, how to hold each other accountable, and how to be gracious in receiving and giving exhortation so that each of them can experience the transforming power of God in all its fullness. Fellowship groups are foundational to the life at Southside. Because of this, belonging to a group is the best way to belong to Southside. Our hope is that everyone who attends our church will be involved in a Fellowship Group.
Various groups of six to twelve people meet in homes across Canberra – currently our fellowship groups are meeting in Gungahlin, Nicholls, Harrison, Aranda, Fraser, Downer, Lyons, Wanniassa, Mawson, Fisher and Richardson. The typical meeting involves fellowship, Bible study, sharing, pastoral care and prayer. Many groups are a blend of men and women, nationalities and ages. There are also specialised groups for men only, women only and mothers with young children.
