Southside Bible Church (SBC) was planted under the name of Woden Valley Bible Church (WVBC). In late 2002, Dom Fiocco (a graduate of Moore Theological College) and his wife Leslie, along with their three young girls, were joined by two other families in a lounge-room with the goal of planting a new church on the southern side of Canberra.  Under God’s guidance His church began to grow.

WVBC began meeting in a school hall in the Woden Valley in February 2003 and in 2007 we employed our second Pastor, Chris Nelson (a graduate of Sydney Missionary and Bible College and Morling College). By the end of 2007, by God’s grace we planted Café Bible Church, a Sunday evening gathering.

In 2009 we employed our third Pastor, Phill Evans (graduate of SMBC).

In 2010 we planted another church, Lakeside Bible Church in the inner south of Canberra, and by late 2012 Chris Nelson became the Lead Pastor of Lakeside Bible Church and Café Bible Church.

At the end of 2014 Phill left our churches to complete further theology study. In mid-2015 we welcomed Adam Chessum (graduate of Moore College) to our Pastoral Team.

In 2016 WVBC began work on another church plant, Molonglo Bible Church, in this new region of Canberra. In 2016 we changed our name from WVBC to Southside Bible Church to reflect our change of location to Tuggeranong in south Canberra.
