Ministries

At Southside Bible Church, we hold the firm belief that the purpose of church extends beyond self-fulfillment. Our congregation does not merely attend services as passive consumers; rather, we gather to actively engage in worship and training that empowers us to serve others wholeheartedly.

We believe it is biblical for every Christian to make some kind of contribution to church life, and to use their God-given gifts to the furthering of gospel work in our local community – which is why we are on about Every Member Ministry.

Our ministries are structured to encourage our partners to discover and grow their skills and spiritual gifts to better serve and love one another. This can often mean stepping out of our comfort zones, learning to love people who are different from us, and trying new things. We do this because we believe in the gospel’s unique power to transform our lives beyond what we can achieve on our own.

There are many ministries going on at Southside Bible Church, all of whom need more faithful brothers and sisters in Christ to get involved.

Children

We believe children are a gift from God and parents have the primary responsibility for their spiritual growth. So we are passionate about helping parents raise their children to know, love and serve Jesus.

Bible Kids
Bible Kids for children aged Preschool to Year 5. It is run during the school term when the sermon is preached. We share God's love, the wonder of Jesus' act of salvation on the cross, and how we can respond with the children through bible teaching, games, songs, prayer and bible verse memorisation. Children yr 6 onwards are taught with the rest of our adults under the preaching of God's word

Bible Tots
Bible Tots is our crèche program for children under 5.
This runs during the sermon time at church.

Youth

IMPACT Youth

Our Year 6-12 students meet every Friday night from 7-9pm to share fellowship, play games, pray and study God’s word together. We serve together as part of Southside Bible Church and over the year, we also go on camps like KYCK. We have a team of leaders who are committed to teaching, modelling and encouraging our youth.

Camps

At Southside Bible Church, we believe it takes time and effort to get to know each other. Each year we run a Church camp, KYCK youth camp, Dads and Kids camp, and a Young Adults camp to have fun and focus on the important things of life. These camps can often be life changing experiences.

D3’s and C4’s

Discipleship-3 and Coffee-With-4 groups

We are formed as human beings as we live in community with others. So, we support accountability and intergenerational discipleship through Discipleship-3 groups (for men) and Coffee-With-4 groups (for women) across our community to support and learn from each other. Each group consists of people from different stages and ages to keep us accountable, as iron sharpens iron.

Biblical Counselling

At Southside Bible Church, we believe the Bible speaks to all of life’s problems, but sometimes we need another who can carefully listen and connect the bible to our problems. We believe that real and lasting change only when we know ourselves and know our problems within a living relationship with Jesus Christ. This is the aim of our biblical counselling ministry.

Global Missions

There are millions of men, women and children around the world who do not yet know Jesus because they live in areas where there is little opportunity to hear about him or meet other Christians. At Southside Bible Church, we value Every Member Mission where every disciple of Jesus is engaged in local and global mission. So, we partner with brothers and sisters to send them to proclaim the gospel of grace in places we cannot be.

Our global mission partners currently serve in locations around the world.

Child Safety

At Southside Bible Church, we take seriously the Bible’s mandate to be proactive in the welcoming, spiritual nurture, protection, safety and care of those in our ministries – both adults and children. We recognise that children and young people are a valued and important part of the church family but they are potentially vulnerable. We use the ChildSafe Risk Management system to ensure that our people and our activities are appropriate, safe and approved.

As part of our Child Safe Policy we commit to:

  • Ensuring all leaders and those who work with children sign a Partnership Agreement and Code of Conduct (except in exceptional and temporary circumstances)

  • Ensuring all leaders are appropriately screened and have their background’s checked before appointment

  • Ensuring leaders and team members are trained to promote the safety and well-being of children and young people

  • Ensuring that policies and procedures are in place to handle disclosures, allegations of abuse and inappropriate behaviour

  • Ensuring that all leaders receive ongoing support in performing their roles within Southside Bible Church

  • Ensuring that Southside Bible Church provides safe environments for all activities involving children and young people
